I'll probably see it. It does look really good, but a friend of mine who does a lot of CG for films says the CG effects are really pretty terrible. (Guess he saw a preview or pre-screening of it or something.) They keep comparing it to Lord of the Rings, but he said the computer animation just looks fake and out of place. But then again, he was having orgasms over Beowulf. (And not in the Angelina scenes, more just because he thought the CG was so awesome!) That's too bad if it's true. Still looks like an amazing movie though.
It's been controversial with churches over here in America. Apparently it's supposed to have a symbolic undertone where the kids "kill" God, and the author's reasoning is that he wants to imply suppositions to the psyche that God is not necessary for humanity to find fulfillment in life. Yeah, that will stir up some controversy! But it could all just be a propaganda ploy for marketing. Companies have the tendency to do that. |

That's sad if that's going on over there but like you say it could all be a big hype! |
